The Port Adelaide Plaza Shopping Centre will host the Port Adelaide Historical Society’s exciting visual display of the wonders of Port Adelaide, past and present. Visit the main concourse in the Centre during opening hours in the month from May and view our comprehensive gallery of historical pictures, both mounted and digital. Test your knowledge with our electronic history quiz, or post your own questions on our Port Wonder Board. 

On weekends you may also be surprised by some members of the Victoriana Society dressed in period costume, Magician Bernard Larkin, or some Highland  dances.

Our members will be in attendance Friday, Saturday and Sunday to provide context and colour to the social, built and maritime treasures which we will display right in the historic heart of our Port.

This is a South Australian History Trust, South Australian History Festival 2023 Event at the Port Adelaide Plaza Shopping Centre,200-220 Commercial Rd, Port Adelaide SA 5015.

      • Face Painting.
      • Heritage Colouring in.
      • Victoriana Society members will be dressed in Period costume

      • Highland Dancers at 1:00 p.m.
      • Heritage Colouring in.
      • Victoriana Society members will be dressed in Period costume.

      • Past, Present, Wonder Presentation

        We wonder what was here in the past.

        Many changes have occurred to the land on which Port Adelaide Plaza Shopping Centre sits.  Have you ever wondered what used to be on this land.  Have you ever wondered what people, what commerce, and what shipping existed in the Past.

        Our presentation takes you from when this area was the food bowl for the Kuarna people, to when it became one of the busiest commercial areas in Port Adelaide to the Present Shopping complex that we now enjoy.  The presentation will be supported by many images of historic Port Adelaide from the Societies collection.
