Port Adelaide Historical Society works to preserve and protect the history of the Port Adelaide region, support our work by purchasing a Concession Membership.
Port Adelaide Historical Society members receive the Portonian, a quarterly magazine packed full of interesting stories of yesteryear, have access to all the information stored in at the society’s Semaphore rooms, and our Museum at 95 Fletcher Road Peterhead. Members also enjoy member activities including our Monthly meetings and 10% discount on our online books.
Memberships for the Port Adelaide Historical Society are from 1st July until 30th June, and need to be renewed each year. New Memberships in the second half of the financial year ( January to June) will receive membership for the following year.
Port Adelaide Historical Society Concession Membership is for people that are: Students, Pensioner Concession Card, Gold Repatriation Health Card, Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, Low Income Health Care Card, Receiving a Centrelink Payment.
The value of History

- Leadership: History inspires leaders. It provides them with role models to meet complex challenges. Personal stories of leadership reveal how women and men met the challenges of their day and can give new leaders the courage and wisdom to confront the challenges of our time.
- Legacy: History is the foundation for future generations. It is crucial to our future because it explains our shared past. When we preserve authentic, meaningful and significant stories, places, documents, images and artefacts, we leave a foundation upon which future Australians can build.
